Spring Break wasn't the easiest, weight-loss wise. Being home, led itself to easy access to food, but besides that MY STUPID ANKLE STILL HURTS!! By last Thursday, it felt great, I decided to hit the gym and try to run on the treadmill. It felt great, right until I hit 1.5 miles in. the twinges started and I stopped at 1.75 miles and walked. I iced it and it was better by the next day, and it feels good now. But I'm too scared to try again. Friends have been telling me I should switch to the elliptical. I just really want to run. I want to do the virtual 5k with The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans, and I want to run a race in my town with my husband at the end of May. He's running 5 miles easy and I'm sidelined. It just sucked. I lost weight this week, but I'm not happy about my activity level!

Spring In2 Action Weigh in #1
Spring break is in full motion here. Which is great, because without any snow days this winter, there were no days off of school. The natives, and myself, have gotten restless and we were all looking forward to a few days off the regular routine. What is bad about spring break is the break in the routine of eating healthy. A visit to my in-laws is always dangerous--lots of treats and great food. then the easy access to snacks here at the house is a pitfall as well. ugh, it is hard. Not to mention the fact that my ankle is still not right. I think I will give the treadmill a go tomorrow. I haven't exercised or run in almost 2 weeks and it is killing me.
However, spring break has allowed me the opportunity to read two of the three Hunger Games book (and see the movie). I also steam cleaned all the carpets (except the basement) in the house. I'm feeling pretty productive! Tomorrow, all the girls go to daycare and I have a day to myself. Not sure what I will do yet, but I know I will enjoy it.
Here are this week's numbers:

Injured
I'm not quite sure how it happened, but I injured my ankle last week. I ran on Wednesday and felt fine. I woke up on Thursday morning a little sore and stiff, but that's nothing new. Thursday afternoon, the inside of my left ankle hurt when I run. not a lot, and I just figured it was stiff and I didn't warm up enough. About a mile into my run, the pain stopped. when I finished the run and started my cool down, the pain returned.
I didn't run on Friday because my schedule didn't allow for it. I also took Saturday off just to give the ankle a bit more rest. Sunday I headed to the gym determined to take it easy but to get a work out in. It hurt as soon as I started to run. The ankle brace I also wore felt ridiculous and started to hurt as well. I was only able to run for 20 min and then had to stop. I clearly screwed something up. It's a little swollen and sore to the touch. Icing it helps, but not enough. I can function and walk on it, but a workout is out of the question. It nearly brings me to tears to not be able to work out. I can't believe I actually just said that! I have really gotten into a groove with running and feeling great about it. I worry that this setback with have lasting effects on my motivation. I haven't ran since Sunday and I probably won't even try until after we return from a trip visiting my in laws this weekend. It just makes me sick!
Despite no exercise, I have lost weight this week. Which is great since tomorrow is the final weigh-in for our "biggest loser" competition at work. But in reality it is bad because I'm pretty sure that means I've lost muscle mass and not fat! Again, lasting effects!!! UGH. I will tell you that I am both happy and upset that this competition is ending. I can't wait to have the pressure off me a little bit (or at least for a few days) so that I am not constantly worried about my food intake/workouts. But then again, competing with my co-workers has kept me accountable and on the right path. There is little chance of me winning 1st place (since I'm currently in 4th), but my department team may be able to win the team competition!! Here's hoping!

Shrink Yo'Self Weigh in #8
After 8 weeks of this I would have liked to have seen a bigger drop on the scale. I know that the "slow and steady" approach is always best, but it still would have been nice! Not as much time to work out this last week or so. Work and family activities have kept me busy, unfortunately. I am determined to keep trudging along, however. I've decided that I must watch my schedule closely and be sure not to over schedule other things!

Shrink Yo'Self Weigh in #6 & #7
I totally forgot to write my post last week. and then I totally forgot to do it again this week. Life is getting busy, but I am trying to keep moving forward. Last week on weigh in day, I had gained a pound. but by the next day I was down almost 2. The constant fluctuation drives me crazy. I'm do 3 different weigh ins each week: Wednesday for Shrinking Jeans, Friday for "Biggest Loser" competition at work, then Saturday for Weight Watchers. It is hard not to step on the scale daily.

Shrink Yo'Self Week #5
It's Wednesday so that means it's weigh-in day for the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans Shrink Yo'Self Challenge!
I feel like I've spent the last month really working on changing my eating habits and paying attention to what I eat. the beauty of Weight Watchers is that I can eat just about whatever I want, as long as I work it into my points for the day. I've had a few days where I wasn't so good, but for the most part, it hasn't been too hard. Having my husband along for the ride has definitely helped too!
Getting my exercise is always a challenge. right now, I am hitting the gym immediately after work about 3 days a week. Since we just started a new semester, I haven't been bombarded by requests for parent teacher conferences. Once those start up again, that means my 45 min at the gym may get lost. I'm hoping I can figure out a way to keep my exercise going!
Here are the numbers for this week!
Starting weight...1*3.8
Last week...........1*8.0
This week...........1*6.8
Weekly loss............1.8
TOTAL LOSS.....7.6!!!!!

Shrink Yo'Self Weigh in #4
I feel like it was a great week. My husband is on board with weight loss too, and that makes it SOOOO much easier. We have conversations about what we ate, how many points (even though he is not officially doing WW, he is following along with me- he has no idea how many points he is allowed, but figures it's a few more than me.
On Saturday at my WW weigh in, I learned that my home scale is off by .4lbs from theirs. I weighed myself in my clothes right before I walked out the door and was .4lbs heavier at the meeting. Good thing to know!
I got back to running this week and am hoping to be back on track with running 2-3 miles straight withing a few weeks!
Here are the numbers:

Shrink YoSelf Weigh-In #3
I re-joined Weight Watchers on Saturday in order to help me on this journey. After the births of my first two kids, it was very helpful in losing the "baby weight". Well my last baby will be four this April, and I am still carrying around the weight I should have lost after she was born AND before I got pregnant!
The point structure has changed a little bit, but the concepts are the same. What is great is that I can use the app on my iPhone to keep track of points, etc. The first few days have not been very difficult. However, the WW scale is different than my bathroom scale. This week, I'm going to have to weigh myself in my clothes right before heading out the door to the meeting just so I can figure out what the difference is...and not be so depressed when my weight is more at the meeting.
One of the big things I struggle with is the amount my weight fluctuates on a daily basis. I can be down 3 lbs and then overnight gain back almost all of it. It is a constant battle. Maybe I Shouldn't get on the scale so often, I don't know. So this week was not great, despite the WW tracking of points. Maybe when I weigh in on Saturday with them I will see greater changes. I was up a few pounds over the weekend, but have dropped back down to where I was last Wednesday.
I worked out 6 days this past week, and hope to keep that up (part of why I am so frustrated with the lack of weight loss though!). After two weeks of just getting back to the gym, I started running on the treadmill again. I had to dial it down quite a bit, but am hoping to get back to running 2-3 miles soon!
